Why are there two types of screen repair?
If only the front glass (with touch/digitizer on it) is broken, and the underlying LCD is okay, we don’t need to replace the whole thing. (This is possible because the front glass isn’t bonded to the LCD on the third-gen iPad Air.)
The other repair type is for cases where the LCD itself is broken and must be replaced as well.
My iPad Air third-gen is swollen up- why is this?
It’s caused by the fact that the battery inside your iPad is- in turn- swollen up like a pillow and forcing the rest of it out. This can be triggered by wear or damage to the battery. It can even be dangerous in this state, so we would recommend that you have it replaced as soon as possible.
Does Gadget Hero charge its customers for diagnostics or checking?
We don’t charge if you bring your phone in and we have a look at it over the counter to determine what’s wrong with it. If we need to book it in and investigate further, there’s a £CALL charge to cover our time. However, this is already included in the repair price if you wish to go ahead with that.
My iPad might have suffered water or liquid damage- what should I do?
If it’s likely that the water- or any other liquid such as tea, coffee, fizzy drinks or alcohol- got past the waterproofing and inside the case, you should read this section on water damage for more advice. Generally speaking, you want to bring your iPad Air 3 to us as soon as possible so it doesn’t suffer further corrosion or damage from residues left behind by the water.
