FAQ for Apple iPad 5 / iPad 9.7″ Repairs
What’s the difference between the screen repair types?
The repair you need depends on whether the LCD itself was damaged or whether it was just the front glass containing the digitizer (i.e. touch) that broke. If the LCD itself is fine, the price is lower because we don’t have to replace the whole thing, just the front glass.
If you’re not sure which applies in your case, feel free to ask our staff for their advice.
Why is my iPad 5 bulging?
This is caused by a swollen battery, a problem caused by wear and/or damaged. Swollen batteries can be dangerous in some cases and can also bend or put pressure on other internal components. They should be replaced as soon as possible even if your iPad 9.7″ is still working.
Does Gadget Hero charge for diagnostics?
For a standard over-the-counter discussion and look at your iPad, no. We apply a charge of £CALL to cover our time only if your iPad needs booked in for further investigation, and this is already included in the repair charge if you proceed with that.
Can you fix liquid damage?
Yes, but bear in mind that the chances of success can vary depending upon the type and level of damage it’s suffered and various other factors.Internal corrosion can continue even if your iPad 5 looks okay just now. One common solution- drying it out with rice- doesn’t really work, and can even speed up damage in some cases.
