FAQ for Apple iPad 7 / iPad 10.2″ Repairs

How do the screen repair types differ?

The one you want depends upon how much damage your screen suffered. On this model, the front glass and digitizer (the bit that records finger presses and movement) are separate from the LCD panel that actually displays the screen. Most of the time, it’s that surface glass that’s damaged, and the LCD itself is still intact.

If so, that’s great news, because it’s much cheaper when we only have to replace the glass and digitizer rather than replacing the whole lot.

It’s usually clear if the LCD itself is messed up (lines on screen itself, damage at crack, LCD leaks), but you’re welcome to ask us if you’re not sure!

My iPad 7 is bulging- what should I do?

You should get the battery replaced! Li-Ion batteries can swell like a pillow if they’re worn or damaged, and are sometimes dangerous in this state. (The swelling can also bend and put pressure on the rest of the internals).

The good news is that battery replacement is a common and straightforward repair.

Is there a disagnostics fee?

We only charge for diagnostics if we have to book in your iPad for further investigation (i.e. if the problem isn’t clear when you first bring it in). The £CALL charge covers the cost of our time and is already included in the repair charge if you go ahead with it.

Can you fix water or liquid damage on my Apple iPad 7?

Yes, we can. The level of success depends upon the nature of the damage and- often- how quickly we receive it. If you’ve reason to believe water (or coffee, tea, soft drinks, alcohol or whatever) got past the waterproofing- especially if there are signs of damage- it’s recommended you have it looked at.

Remaining liquid and the residue it leaves behind can cause ongoing corrosion even if your iPad looks okay. (Drying it out doesn’t solve that either, and can sometimes speed up the damage).
