Installation and Upgrade
If you’re looking to have a piece of new hardware installed in your PC- or you want your existing hardware replaced or upgraded- but you don’t have either the inclination, the skill, or the time to do so, let us take the hassle out of your computer upgrades.
Similarly, if you’re having problems with an existing piece of hardware and need an expert to take a look at it- that’s what we’re here for! We take the hassle and inconvenience out of the process.
We can source and supply the hardware for you too if necessary. (Installation services are usually charged separate on top of the cost of the hardware itself, but we can often do the two together at a very competitive price).
You can also save money if we install multiple items at the same time.
If you already own the hardware in question, we can usually fit it anyway. (If you want to buy and supply the hardware yourself, we can usually work with that too. However, we recommend double-checking with us in advance- just to be on the safe side before you spend your hard-earned cash!)

We don’t just install individual components- we can even design and build you a new custom PC from scratch!
You know how it is- most large chains are happy to sell you a pre-built desktop PC made to a set design. That might not be what you want, and it could well have been sitting around a warehouse gathering dust (and going out-of-date) for some time.
That’s not how we do things at Gadget Hero. Almost all the desktop machines we sell are designed to the customer’s own specification. They tell us what type of computer they want and what they want it for and we work with them to determine what combination of hardware will give them the best bang for the price they’re willing to pay.
We can do the same for you. Just give us your desired spec and approximate price and we’ll help design and build the custom PC that meets your needs at a price you can afford!
Computer Hardware and Driver Repair
Whether it’s damage to the hardware itself that’s causing the problem, or an associated software issue (including those pesky drivers!), we can look at your computer hardware and fix it for you.
System Transplant Service
Would you like your desktop PC moved to a new case? Whether the old one is damaged, out-of-date or you simply want a new and more attractive one, we can transplant it for you.
This service can be combined with an upgrade of one or more aspects of your existing computer, and it’s often desirable if you don’t want a whole new machine, or you want to keep your existing setup but improve one or more aspects. You then get many of the benefits of a shiny new PC without some of the drawbacks (including the cost!)
Since the specifics of this service are likely to vary on a case-by-case basis, we recommend that you contact or visit us to discuss your needs. We’ll let you know what’s practical and how much it’s likely to cost. You might be pleasantly surprised by how affordable an alternative this can be to a new PC!

Data Recovery Services
Can I Get My Data Back?
Your computer data is important- and potentially losing it (whether as the result of a faulty or corrupt hard drive, SSD, USB pen drive, SD card or other memory card) can be a major worry.
There are two main causes of data loss:-
- Corruption due to software or OS issues where the data relating to the files and/or disk structure get messed up, and
- Where the drive or media itself is damaged or physically failing
Either way, as soon as you suspect there’s a serious problem with your drive, turn off your computer immediately. If it’s a removeable drive, disconnect it and do not use it again until we’ve looked at it. If the drive is inside the computer itself or can’t be disconnected, stop using the computer until it’s been looked at.
Continued use of a faulty drive increases the chance of further damage. Otherwise recoverable data can get further corrupted, overwritten and completely lost. Similarly, continuing to use an already-failing drive makes it more likely to fail completely before we have the chance to get the data off it.
While there are never any guarantees in the data recovery business, you can greatly increase your chances of success by following the advice above and bringing it to us.

Virus, Ransomware and Malware Removal
Computer viruses are computer programs designed to copy themselves and spread from system to system. Almost all examples nowadays are malicious– hence why they’re grouped together with “malware” (malicious software) in general. They’re frequently used for criminal purposes- e.g. to steal credentials, hold computer users to ransom (“ransomware“) and more.
They’ve become a bigger problem since the rise of the Internet helped connect us to so many potential sources of infection.
Other forms of malware include fake antivirus software. Ironically, such programs are actually part of the problem they claim to fix. (For this reason, we recommend that you don’t install antivirus or firewall software with unknown credentials- regardless of its claims. Downloading from dubious sites can also expose you to versions of legitimate software that have been hacked to include malware).
Remember that malware can sit on your computer and steal login details for the likes of your bank account (and other important things), so these can ultimately have real financial consequences.
If you suspect that your computer has been infected by a virus, computer worm, malware or ransomware, we recommend that you bring it to us as soon as possible to have it checked and- if necessary- get the malware removed.
We can also advise on which antivirus and firewall software you might- or might not- wish to use, and install it if necessary.
