Are replacement screens available for the iPhone 14 Pro Max yet?

As of Autumn 2022, replacement screens for the iPhone 14 Pro Max are scarce, but will likely follow the path of becoming more common. If you need a repair now, we’re the people best-placed to be able to find a replacement screen- our industry connections run far deeper than those of our competitors!

Are all replacement screens the same, and why shouldn’t I go for someone else’s cheaper screen repair?

At the time of writing, third-party "copy" replacement screens aren’t yet available, but it’s likely that (as with previous iPhones) they’ll arrive sooner rather than later. However, these are almost always based on LCD technology which offers inferior results to most OLED displays (like the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s) and using an LCD in a phone designed for an OLED can also cause problems (and sometimes damage).

Generally, most low-cost screen repair services only use these cheap "copies" to keep their costs down. (That’s why you’ll find it hard to get an iPhone 14 Pro Max screen repair until those become widely-available). It lets them offer you a cheaper repair, but usually at the expense of a poor-quality display that can make your iPhone 14 Pro Max look like (e.g.) a £100 model.
