Hi there! Thank you for considering Gadget Hero for your iPhone SE repair, and we hope to be able to convince you why we’re the affordable and trustworthy choice to go with.

The SE was an affordable iPhone based mostly on proven technology, and while it resembled the 5S (and used the same screen) it was significantly better inside. It was manufactured between 2016 and 2018, so most will be several years old now. If your first-gen iPhone SE needs its battery replaced, scroll down to see our latest competitive prices on battery replacement and other services including charging port, water damage or more, our staff have years of experience with the first-generation iPhone SE. We hope to see you soon!

If you’re looking for repairs for other versions of the iPhone SE, please see iPhone SE 2nd Gen (2020 version) or iPhone SE 3rd Gen (2022 version).

Battery Replacement

It’s several years since Apple discontinued the original iPhone SE, so most of the original batteries will be worn out and due for replacement.

If yours is showing signs of age (i.e. poor performance, not charging), bring it to us and we’ll replace it for you!

  • Restore battery peformance to similar to ‘as-new’ levels
  • Banish charging issues
  • Swollen batteries also replaced (see FAQ)

FAQ for iPhone SE (1st Gen / 2016) Repairs

How is the “Premium” screen replacement better than the “Basic” one?

“Basic” is a usable-quality third-party display similar to the type most other repair shops fit.

The “Premium” replacement is significantly better in terms of brightness, colour rendition and all-round quality- broadly the same as the factory original. Due to our industry connections, we’re able to offer this at a highly competitive price.

Most other shops only offer a third-party LCD screen that is- at best- comparable to our “Basic” screen. Few offer anything comparable to our “Premium” display.

We offer the “Basic” screen mainly to remain competitive with other shops basing their price on cheaper LCDs, but the “Premium” is definitely the one we recommend– it’s far higher quality even though the price isn’t that much more.

My iPhone SE is swollen- is that a problem?

In short- yes, it’s a problem, and it’s dangerous. A swollen phone is caused by a swollen battery, and that’s a sign of damage. A battery in this state can catch fire or even explode, and should be replaced immediately. Until you can have this done, stop using it and keep it safe until you’re able to bring it to us.

Is there a fee for diagnosing or examining problems?

We don’t charge for a quick over-the-counter look. If we need to book it in and spend time investigating further, there’s a £CALL diagnosis/stripdown charge to cover our time. However, if the phone is repairable, this is already included in the repair price.

My phone got wet- what do I do?

Turn off your iPhone SE and stop using it until it’s been looked at. Then bring it to us ASAP. Don’t use it before it’s been looked at, and don’t attempt to dry it out in rice. (Contrary to what some will tell you, this doesn’t work and can make things worse).
