iPhone 7 Plus Repair FAQ

What is Apple iPhone 7 Plus “Audio IC disease”?

This is a problem that affects the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Symptoms include:-

  • Siri not hearing you
  • Dropped audio
  • Static
  • Greyed-out voice memos icon
  • Greyed-out loudspeaker icon during calls
  • Confusingly, some audio facilities might continue to work even while others don’t
  • Various other issues including slow boot (several minutes), phone stuck on Apple logo, laggy touch after passcode and more

Audio IC disease is due to the phone bending at a weak point, which in turn damages the board where the Audio IC and a couple of other important chips are. We can fix audio IC disease on your iPhone 7 Plusclick here to book your appointment.

How do the “Basic” and “Premium” screen repairs compare?

The “Basic” screen repair is a budget option using a standard third-party replacement LCD. It’s at least as good as most other shops’ standard repairs using similar third-party LCDs.

However, the “Premium” screen repair is a whole lot better and comparable to the original in terms of quality.

While we offer the “Basic” screen to compete with other stores who use cheap LCDs to keep their advertised price down, the “Premium” is definitely the one we’d recommend and (for us) worth the extra money.

Why is my iPhone 7 Plus bulging?

Your phone’s internal battery is swollen due to damage. This also means it’s dangerous (could catch fire) and you shouldn’t use it until the battery has been replaced. (See here for more info.

Is there a diagnostics fee?

We won’t charge if it’s something that we can solve from a quick discussion over the counter. There’s only a charge if we need to book it in and spend time investigating. (That being the case, the cost would be already included in the repair price if you go ahead with one).

My phone’s wet, what can I do?

If the water is likely to have got inside (i.e. not stopped by waterproofing), turn it off, don’t use it until it’s been fixed and bring it to us ASAP. See here for more advice.
