Apple iPhone SE 2nd Gen / 2020 Repair FAQ
What’s the difference between the Basic and Premium screen replacement?
The Premium screen is comparable in quality to the original and also lets you keep the True Tone facility which adapts colour balance to ambient conditions.
The Basic screen is a third-party LCD more like the type other stores fit. We offer this to remain competitive for price-sensitive customers and against other shops which only offer cheap LCDs and base their prices on that.
That said, the Premium is definitely the one we recommend… for a little more, you preserve the original display quality of your iPhone SE.
My iPhone SE’s case has swollen up- what does that mean?
This indicates damage to the battery. Li-ion (Lithium ion) rechargeable batteries (as included in your iPhone SE) can do this if damaged, and they’re in a dangerous condition where they can potentially catch fire or explode(!). So… don’t do anything dangerous with a phone like this until it’s been looked at.
Is there a diagnostics charge?
We don’t charge for a quick over-the-counter discussion and check. We only charge you if we need to book the phone in for further investigation that will require time and work. (The charge for that is £CALL and included in the repair cost if you go ahead with that)..
My phone got wet and is/isn’t working. What should I do?
Turn it off (if safe to do so) and stop using it until it’s fixed. Bring it to us ASAP (corrosion can continue even if it looks fine). The sooner you do this, the greater the chance of a successful repair.
And don’t dry it out using rice. This myth is common, but doesn’t clean the dirt and residue that actually cause the damage- drying things out can actually accelerate corrosion.
